Create A Time To Talk, Everyday:
This can be family time, when everyone is at home, after dinner or the few minutes before bedtime. This is to encourage children to share their day with the family and children love to be listened to. Family bonding improves the child’s performance in every way!
Be Open, Answer First And Then Question:
Children love to ask and to keep on asking. So, as parents, all their questions need to be addressed to with an open mind and then parents can question them. If they are questioned first, children hesitate to open!
If the answers are unknown to parents, they can be honest and tell children that they will come back to it at a later specified time and answer it without fail. This builds the child’s trust!
Ask:
Parents can check if all is good and share thoughts and advise if anything is worrying the child. This can be done by observing the child closely once they are back from school. A warm hug will let the child open up.
Listen/Advise:
When children start to talk, it may be trivial to the parents but to the child, those things are important. So, it’s necessary to listen completely to the child and keep the conversation lively and going. This will encourage them to talk more.
Bonding:
When children have play time with parents, they enjoy and have fun. These game times are the best to bring up any topic between the child and the parent. When the bonding happens, a child becomes happy. When parents limit the screen time and live as an example, children learn from imitating them.
Outings:
When parents plan their time with child centric outings, children get excited. They love to explore the nature; the animals and their young minds get inquisitive. When parents are near them, they find it rewarding.
Competitions:
When parents motivate children to take part in competitions and help them prepare for it and encourage them in taking part, children feel cared for. This boosts their confidence to a great extent and when parents explain winning or losing doesn’t matter as far as the job well done, children would learn how to face life.
